Southampton FC Squad 2022
Southampton FC Goalkeepers

- Gavin Bazunu
- Alex McCarthy
- Mateusz Lis
- Willy Caballero
In the goalkeeping department, Southampton are quite content. Gavin Bazunu has cemented his spot in the starting XI over Alex McCarthy. He joined the Saints from Man City U21. Fraser Forster has been moved out to Spurs this season. Forster was their leading custodian at the start of the last campaign but after a series of inconsistent displays, Hassenhutl has chosen to go with new signing Buzunu. Forster put in some great performances initially and at one point was even contending for a spot in the England national team. Alex McCarthy was also Southampton’s main choice but he could be a backup option.
Southampton FC Defenders

- Jan Bednarek
- Mohammed Salisu
- Armel Bella-Kotchap
- Jack Stephens
- Lyanco
- Romain Perraud
- Tino Livramento
- Kyle Walker-Peters
- Yan Valery
The defence has been quite poor for the Saints and have caused the majority of their problems recently. The likes of Yan Valery and Jan Bednarek have done well but the others have not been able to step up to their duties and have let their sides down on a number of occasions. They strengthened their defence with Armel Bella-Kotchap from VfL Bochum as centre-back. Romain Perraud, Lyanco and Tino Livramento were Soutmapton’s signings last season. Now, the defence looks quite balanced.
Southampton FC Midfielders

- Ibrahima Diallo
- Oriol Romeu
- Roméo Lavia
- James Ward-Prowse
- Joe Aribo
- Stuart Armstrong
Roméo Lavia and Joe Aribo are the latest signings of Southampton FC in midfield. Will Smallbone moved out to Stoke City on loan transfer. James Ward-Prowse is always hailed for his crosses. The Englishman’s ability going forward as well as his willingness to help his side defensively hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Southampton midfield ranks are adequate as the addition of Joe Aribo from Rangers will give their buildup more vile, especially in crunch time.
Southampton FC Forwards

- Nathan Redmond
- Mohamed Elyounoussi
- Moussa Djenepo
- Theo Walcott 4
- Ché Adams
- Adam Armstrong
- Sékou Mara
Sékou Mara was signed by the club from G. Bordeaux in the summer of 2022. Shane Long has left the club and moved to Rangers. Their prominent player Danny Ings moved to Aston Villa last season.
A lot of fans put down the lack of goals to the old manager’s style of play. Southampton had poor intent in goal scoring last season and the German boss didn’t invest in big players this summer. Hassenhutl likes to implement an attacking style of football which places a lot of responsibilities on his strikers. Watch & Bet Football =>See Also:
